PROJECTS IN PROGRESS

INTERREG PROGRAMME DANUBE REGION: MOVING PLASTICS AND MACHINE INDUSTRY TOWARDS CIRCULARITY (project acronym PLAN-C) - DRP0200194

Plan C CMYK 1

The "PLAN-C" project starting from January 1st 2024 is planned for a period of 30 months with completion in June 2025.

The project consortium consisting of 14 partners from 9 countries aims to support the transformation of the plastics value chain in the Danube region towards circularity through transnational cooperation in the field of plastics (both converters and manufacturers) and the engineering industry.

For Slovakia, SPK and the Faculty of Production Technologies of TUKE Košice with seat in Prešov are included in the project as full partners. The project has also a Slovak associated partner represented by Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Plan-C project supports the transformation of the plastics value chain in the Danube region towards circularity through transnational cooperation in the plastics and engineering industry (both processors and manufacturers).

Based on technology transfer and a design thinking process, the project partners will jointly develop innovative prototype solutions for plastic products and machine concepts designed for circularity to demonstrate the benefits of recycling, reuse, or processing.

The Kick-off meeting took place on 27-28 February 2024 in Linz, Austria, in the country of the main partner.

After a welcome by an Austrian partner Biz-Up, a warm-up activity was organized in the form of a workshop focusing on design thinking methodology. Subsequently, the meeting continued with presentations of work packages 1 and 2 (WP1: Transformation of the PLASTICS INDUSTRY into a circular economy using the methodology of design thinking and WP2: Transformation of the ENGINEERING INDUSTRY into a circular economy using design thinking methodology).

The second day of the meeting was devoted to the topics of project management, finance, quality control, and communication activities.

The next meeting of the partnership in the format of a Steering Committee is scheduled for June 26-27, 2024 in Germany.

INCLUNET - 04/2021 – 09/2023

InCluNet - Support for networking of organizations in the plastic converters industry and related industries ITMS2014+: 313012ANZ6

The InCluNet project is prepared in accordance with the areas of development, priorities, and goals set out in the SPK Strategy until 2025. It was created on the basis of a survey of SPK members, an analysis of strategic documents valid in the Slovak Republic, and an analysis of documents at the EU level. The project activities take into account the fulfillment of key areas, which were defined in the "Benchmarking Report" Bronze Label, as those that SPK should address more efficiently or on a larger scale. The project activities are based on services for SPK members with a focus on: various forms of networking, support for applied research, improving the quality of human resources, promoting the activities of the cluster and the plastics processing industry, and developing business in the sector. The main goal is to strengthen research, technological development, and innovation and to increase the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

PERCY - 09/2020 - 08/2022 – EXTENDED TO 02/2023

COS-CLUSINT-2019-3-01 - Percy - International Cluster Cooporation for Recycling of Polymers

The aim of the project is cluster cooperation in polymer recycling. "PERCY" is an acronym for the European project of a consortium of four European clusters in the polymer industry. Collaborating clusters are located in Denmark, France, Germany, and Slovakia. With this project, the clusters focus on identifying new target markets for their member companies and supporting them in this process. The clusters forming the PERCY consortium have predefined several markets. In doing so, they identified five countries that represent an interesting goal of their internationalization strategy and the interests of members. These markets are Israel, the USA, Canada, Indonesia, and India.

EPIC - Educational Package for SMEs to Increase their Innovation capabilities and productivity, Project number:2020-1-HU01-K202-078669

On 2-3.2.2022, SPK organized a partner meeting of the EPIC project at the ground of Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Partners had the chance to meet in person as well as in the online space and discuss the goals and progress of the project. The EPIC partnership created a complex educational package for SMEs including online self-assessment tools, training materials, and an offline interactive training kit in the field of innovation and innovation management. A significant part of the meeting was also the feedback to the individual modules/chapters of the prepared Training Package. Dates of its testing were also planned at the meeting. Project partners discussed also project management-related aspects and overall project dissemination activities.

The training package with all tools in the national language (Slovak language) should be prepared in May 2022. SPK will test the Training Package with all tools on 20 participants. Also in May 2022, we will contact SPK member companies, which may be the first to use innovation management training in their own company.

EXTRATEX - 02/2020 - 02/2022 – EXTENDED TO 11/2022

COS-CLUSTER-2018-03-02- Extratex - European TEXtile-TRAnsport-Sustainability paradigm for industrial clusters EXcellence in cross-sector innovation

ExtratexEXTRATEX is a partnership composed of 5 clusters across 4 countries (Italy, Spain, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic) to implement strategic collaborations and knowledge or technology transfer processes. These clusters are different from each other, but they are complementary and have a high collaborative potential. The partners of the project come from the textile, automotive, and plastic.

The EXTRATEX partnership identified alternatives to implement the actions, such as the virtual event organized by SPK between February and March 2021. The first in-person event was realized in September 2021 in the Czech Republic, once the travel and pandemic restrictions were gradually released. After this event, further 4 missions were planned and implemented, followed by the final event in Italy which was held in October 2022.
